When I was young there was a behind the scenes program showcasing a look at a certain movie. I got all excited but never got a chance to see the film for myself. It was a story involving Disney’s Mickey Mouse and from the previews i’d seen it looked quite intensifying…especially for Mickey. Years went by and I never saw it..until this afternoon. I finally sat down and watched it…to realize it’s a 7 minute short called Runaway Brain! Watching this I realize that I had never seen Mickey Mouse portrayed in this fashion…and It made me appreciate the character way more for it. It surprises me that Disney didn’t see the potential in this and create a full length film, not to milk it for money, but create a dynamic for the character. There’s some cool little things about this short I love, the references to other movies (The Exorcist, King Kong, Snow White) and Kelsey Grammar as a mad scientist is just pitch perfect casting! This short had been nominated in 1996 for the Best Animated Short Oscar so to anyone who has not see the short, I present it to you here on the site! Mickey Mouse in RUNAWAY BRAIN!
